In short
Overview
Kasol is about 75–80 km from Manali: down the Beas valley through Kullu to Bhuntar, about 50 km, then 30 km up the Parvati valley. By car it takes around two to three hours, longer in Kullu traffic, and the Manikaran hot springs and gurudwara are 3.5 km further on. Leisure Himachal, based in Manali, can arrange a car and driver for a one-way drop or for the day.

The road
From Manali the road follows the Beas down through Kullu to Bhuntar, where the Kullu–Manali airport is. There it turns east up the narrow Parvati valley, through Jari to Kasol, a riverside village at about 1,580 m. Another 3.5 km brings you to Manikaran, with its hot springs, Shiva temple and gurudwara. Read the Kasol and Manikaran guide before you go.
As part of a tour
Our Manali Volvo tour and honeymoon package each spend a day down this road: Kullu’s shawl weavers, Kasol and Manikaran, then back to Manali in the evening. For a one-way drop to Kasol, or a car for the day, send your date and hotel on WhatsApp. During Kullu Dussehra the road through Kullu is much busier — see the Kullu Dussehra guide.

Manali to Kasol taxi: questions
How far is Kasol from Manali?
About 75–80 km — roughly 50 km down the Beas valley from Manali to Bhuntar, then 30 km up the Parvati valley to Kasol.
How long does Manali to Kasol take by taxi?
Route planners give a little under two hours. In practice allow two to three, because traffic through Kullu town is slow.
Can we do Kasol and Manikaran as a day trip from Manali?
Yes. Our Manali tours spend a full day down the valley — Kullu's shawl weavers, Kasol on the Parvati and the temple, gurudwara and hot springs at Manikaran — and come back to Manali the same evening.
Is there a bus from Manali to Kasol?
A few direct buses run each day and take around five hours. Otherwise you change at Bhuntar for a bus up the Parvati valley. Either way it is much slower than a taxi.
Where do the Kheerganga and Malana treks start?
Kasol is the usual base for both. The Kheerganga trail climbs further up the Parvati valley to a meadow with a hot spring at the top.
